It’s that time of the year when every technology platform wants to remind you of all the wonderful and fun times you had with it over the last 12 months. Over the next week or so you’re going to be bombarded with various year in reviews–from the likes of Facebook and Twitter–where the tech companies will highlight all the things you did on their apps. Not to be left in the dust is Spotify, which just released its Spotify Wrapped feature.
Essentially, Wrapped is just a list of the most popular audio content you listened to over the last year. On the app, under the “Made for You” section, is a new playlist featuring your top songs.
But if you want the full Wrapped experience, you can navigate to spotifywrapped.com, where Spotify made an entire visualization of all the time you’ve spent on it. It lists the top artist you listened to, how many hours you spent on the app, podcasts you liked, etc.
If you want to feel nostalgic for the past year, I suppose this is one way to do it. Let’s just hope it doesn’t shame you for all the times you listened to Justin Bieber.
The 2019 Golden Globes nominations are out. Let’s run down some surprises first, because there were some rather huge ones.
NBC’s fan favorite The Good Place was finally honored for best comedy series. Sacha Baron Cohen unexpectedly crashed the best actor in a comedy category for Showtime’s political prank series Who Is America? The excellent imported BBC/Netflix thriller Bodyguard got a best drama series nod. And Candice Bergen was nominated for CBS’ (presumed canceled) Murphy Brownreboot. With the exception of the Good Place honor, top oddsmakers did not see those coming.
We’ll have more of surprises along the way. Here are the biggest snubs in the TV categories:
The Handmaids Tale (Hulu). The dystopian drama swept the Emmys for its debut season in 2017 and won for best drama series at the Globes last year. Yet season 2 failed to get a nomination in the top category, and the title was on every prediction list (stars Elisabeth Moss and Yvonne Strahovski were both nominated). It’s a pretty shocking omission, though the season was admittedly more divisive among critics and fans than the first.
Atlanta (FX): The second season of the innovative rap scene comedy, despite being an Emmy favorite, was surprisingly shut out of the comedy series category (though star Donald Glover was nominated). Also snubbed was another Emmy darling, the ’80s wrestling dramedy GLOW (Netflix) (though actress Alison Briewas nominated). But there was an upside: The Good Place (NBC) finally broke into this category with its first Globes comedy series nomination, and star Kristen Bell was nominated for lead actress in a comedy too.
Maniac (Netflix): Many thought the psychological dark comedy-drama was brilliant and unlike anything else on TV this year, so it was expected to get a nom in the movie-limited series category — yet it was squeezed out (star Emma Stonewas also snubbed for Maniac but did receive a supporting nod for her work in the movie The Favourite).
Patrick Melrose (HBO) likewise was skipped in the series limited series category, though that’s more understandable given the project’s somewhat lackluster reaction — all the praise was around the performance of star Benedict Cumberbatch, who was of course nominated.
Ted Danson. While The Good Place received nominations for best comedy series and an actress nod for Kristen Bell, Danson, who was considered the most likely nom of the three, was left out. Blame Sacha Baron Cohen?
'The Favourite,' 'Green Book' and 'A Star Is Born' earned five noms apiece, while 'The Assassination of Gianni Versace' leads the TV noms with four.
The nominations for the 2019 Golden Globe Awards were announced Thursday morning.
Vice leads the film nominees with six, followed by The Favourite, Green Book and A Star Is Born with five apiece.
On the TV side, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story leads with a total of four noms.
Th Golden Globe nominations announcement took place one month before the awards ceremony on Jan. 6.
Terry Crews, Danai Gurira, Leslie Mann and Christian Slater announced the 2019 Golden Globe nominees live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Also on hand were Isan Elba, Golden Globe Ambassador; Meher Tatna, HFPA president; and Barry Adelman, executive producer and executive vp television at Dick Clark Productions.
Also Thursday morning, Tatna revealed a new award for the 2019 ceremony, a TV equivalent of the Cecil B. Mille Award that the HFPA hands out for film. It will honor "TVs biggest names and brightest talents," she said, noting that recipients will be selected based on their accomplishments and the impact and influence of their career. Noting that it is the first special achievement award to be created by the HFPA since the DeMille honor was first given in 1952, Tatna added that the honoree will be revealed in the coming days.
The 76th Golden Globe Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and air on NBC, with Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh hosting. The Golden Globe Awards ceremony is produced by Dick Clark Productions, which shares a parent company with The Hollywood Reporter.

For those who celebrate, St. Nick stops by overnight and leaves small presents in shoes or stockings.
What did St. Nick leave at your house? Chime In with a photo or video:
So who was St. Nicholas? He was a bishop of Myra, in present-day Turkey, in the fourth century.
Many legends have been attributed to St. Nicholas. Among the most famous is his leaving three dowries for a poor man's daughters, allowing them to marry and avoid being sold into slavery.
In the Roman Catholic Church, Nicholas is the patron saint of mariners, merchants, bakers, travelers and children, among others.
