Stephen Colbert: Targeting Tucker Carlson's family 'an act of monstrous cowardice'
Late-night host Stephen Colbert on Thursday condemned the mob associated with left-wing antifa activists that surrounded Fox News host Tucker Carlson's home the previous night.
"Fighting Tucker Carlson’s ideas is an American right. Targeting his home and terrorizing his family is an act of monstrous cowardice," Colbert tweeted Thursday.
"Obviously don’t do this, but also, take no pleasure in it happening," Colbert added. "Feeding monsters just makes more monsters."Smash Racism DC, a Twitter account that associates itself with antifa, tweeted Wednesday that activists were protesting Carlson at his home.
In the since-deleted tweet, Smash Racism DC included video of the mob surrounding Carlson's home and chanting loudly, "Tucker Carlson, we will fight! We know where you sleep at night!"
nother now-deleted tweet from the account read, "Every night you spread fear into our homes—fear of the other, fear of us, and fear of them. Each night you tell us we are not safe."
"Tonight you’re reminded that we have a voice," it continued. "Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either."
The mob reportedly did not enter the house but did break Carlson's door, according to USA Today.
Carlson's wife was reportedly home alone when the mob began chanting and banging on the door, leading her to call the police and lock herself in a pantry for safety.
