#1 Restaurant owner who booted out Sarah Huckabee Sanders explains she did so after taking a staff vote – and now the eatery has been slammed on Yelp and had its online menu hacked

The owner of The Red Hen restaurant that kicked out Sarah Huckabee Sanders has revealed why she refused to serve the White House Press Secretary.

On Friday night Sanders was asked to leave the Lexington, Virginia restaurant where she was dining with her seven family members.

Restaurant owner Stephanie Wilkinson said she took a staff vote before asking Sanders to leave. When they voted to boot her out, Wilkinson complied.

'Tell me what you want me to do. I can ask her to leave. They said "yes,"' Wilkinson said to the Washington Post.

#3 ‘I wish I could take it back’: White woman gets death threats after viral video shows her calling the POLICE on a black eight-year-old girl who was selling water – but then insists she was right to be annoyed at noise

Allison Ettel, 44, is speaking out after drawing fury and backlash in racial row

A white woman has spoken out after drawing online fury for calling the police on an eight-year-old black girl who was selling bottled water on the sidewalk.

'It was wrong, and I wish I could take it back,' Allison Ettel, 44, told SFGate on Saturday, hours after video of the incident in San Francisco raced across the internet. 'Believe me, I wish I never had done that.'

In interviews, Ettel said that she acted out of frustration after the girl and an adult woman had been 'screaming' outside her window all day, and only pretended to call 911 in a desperate attempt to get them to pipe down.

Race, she says, had nothing to do with it. But reaction to video of the incident was swift and furious, drawing death threats and messages vowing sexual assault in retaliation, Ettel said.

#4 7,700-acre wildfire in Northern California prompts evacuations, destroys 12 structures and threatens hundreds more

A wind-driven wildfire tore through the small community of Spring Valley in Northern California over the weekend, scorching 7,700 acres, prompting evacuations and destroying a dozen structures by Sunday afternoon while threatening hundreds more.

Residents of roughly 600 homes in the remote area were ordered to pack up and leave. Those who stayed behind were urged to limit their water usage so it could be conserved for firefighting.

Authorities ordered all of Spring Valley to evacuate Saturday evening, and on Sunday expanded the order to include residents who live north of Highway 20 between Old Long Valley Road and Round Ball Road, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Dubbed the Pawnee fire, it was one of several fires burning in the region, where a red flag warning was in effect. The fire erupted shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday northeast of Clearlake Oaks in Lake County, roughly 70 miles north of Napa. Firefighters faced triple-digit heat as the blaze burned through steep, mountainous terrain covered by thick brush.

“Right now, there’s fire burning actively in the hills behind all these homes,” Capt. Jordan Motta of Cal Fire said late Sunday. “There’s fire right up to people’s homes around here.”

#5 Separated immigrant children are all over the U.S. now, far from parents who don’t know where they are

Their mothers are missing, their fathers far away. They get pizza, maybe cold cuts. They are exhausted; they cannot sleep. There are other children around, but they had never seen those kids before, and those kids are crying or screaming or rocking or spreading the feeling that everything is not okay.

The children who were forcibly separated from their parents at the border by the United States government are all over the country now, in Michigan and Maryland, in foster homes in California and shelters in Virginia, in cold, institutional settings with adults who are not permitted to touch them or with foster parents who do not speak Spanish but who hug them when they cry.

The separations have stopped and the Trump administration has said that it is executing a plan to reunify the children with their parents before deporting them. Still, more than 2,000 children remain spread around the United States, far from their parents — many of whom have no idea where their sons and daughters have been taken.

The children have been through hell. They are babies who were carried across rivers and toddlers who rode for hours in trucks and buses and older kids who were told that a better place was just beyond the horizon.

And now they live and wait in unfamiliar places: big American suburban houses where no one speaks their language; a locked shelter on a dusty road where they spend little time outside; a converted Walmart where each morning they are required to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance, in English, to the country that holds them apart from their parents.

#6 Teenage soccer team feared trapped in Thai cave

A search is underway to rescue 12 teenage soccer players and their coach who are thought to be trapped in a cave in northern Thailand.

Investigators believe the group, who have been missing since Saturday, crawled into the Tham Luang Nang Non Cave through a narrow 15-meter long channel.

Rising waters then blocked the path, which is about as wide as a single person, leaving the group stuck inside the cave network, Kamolchai Kotcha, an official with Thailand's national parks authority, told CNN.

"We have been working almost 24 hours but there are many limitations, the caves are pitch dark and very low level of oxygen in some areas, and scattering rains just made our task more difficult," said Kotcha.

#7 Fox News forced to apologize after Trump’s former deputy campaign manager says black panelist is out of his ‘cotton-picking mind’ live on air

A Fox News host apologized on air to viewers after a segment in which a pro-Trump white guest told a Democratic Party strategist who is black that he was 'out of his cotton-picking mind.'

Ed Henry, the host of Fox and Friends, invited two guests on Sunday to debate President Donald Trump's policies toward migrants and the fallout from the separation of families who cross the U.S.-Mexico border.

Henry invited David Bossie, a former Trump deputy campaign manager, and Joel Payne, a frequent guest who is also a Democratic strategist.

The discussion grew tense over accusations that those criticizing Trump by comparing him to Adolf Hitler and his supporters to Nazis crossed the line.

Michael Avenatti said he received a call late Sunday from two prosecutors who said they were concerned about media interest in the interview and canceled the meeting, according to the Associated Press.

Daniels and Avenatti have been cooperating with prosecutors and provided documents about the payment, made shortly before the 2016 election, in response to a subpoena, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to provide the information about Monday’s interview.
