#33 Taco Bell sued by staff after California outlets BANNED them from eating discounted lunches outside

California Taco Bell employees brought a lawsuit against the fast food company for banning them from leaving the restaurant during their lunch breaks if they bought food using their employee discount.

In compliance with state law, Taco Bell gives employees a 30-minute meal break and, as a bonus, offers them the option of purchasing a discounted meal, with the understanding that they have to eat what they buy inside the restaurant.

The fast food company apparently put the practice into place in an attempt to prevent 'theft,' stopping employees from using their discounts for food they'd turn around and give to their family and friends, Inc. reported.

A former California Taco Bell employee sued the fast food company over a policy stating that lunch break food purchased with an employee discount must be consumed on premise

Taco Bell, however, has no problems with employees leaving the premises with their orders during their half-hour lunch breaks if they pay full price for the food. Employees are welcome to leave during their breaks if they brought food from home or elsewhere, as well.

#36 YouTube’s dark mode reaches Android users

YouTube has taken its sweet time bringing its "dark theme" to Android (iOS users got the option in March), but it's finally here.

The streaming video giant has started rolling out the option to at least some Google-powered devices. If you have it on your phone, you'll find it your Settings' General section. It's not certain how soon everyone will get the feature (we've asked Google for comment), but it may take some days to arrive. Don't despair if you're looking at the familiar white backdrop for a while.

As on iOS and the web, this flips the main interface background to a dark gray with white text on top. It's mostly helpful for sparing your eyes during late night video marathons (so long as the videos themselves aren't blinding, of course). For that matter, it's also appealing if you have one of the growing number of notched Android phones on the market -- if you're perturbed by that missing chunk of screen, it'll be somewhat less conspicuous while you're browsing videos.
