#2 ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ Stays No. 1 With $26 Million

With Thanksgiving releases still casting a large shadow over the market and moviegoers generally skipping the cinemas as the Christmas season kicks off, post-Thanksgiving weekend tends to be a quiet one at the box office. This year was no different, as the top five went unchanged and "Ralph Breaks the Internet" easily held on to the No. 1 spot.

In its second weekend, "Ralph" added $26.1 million to bring its domestic total to $119.7 million after two weekends. By comparison, "Wreck-It Ralph" had grossed $101 million at the same point in its theatrical run six years ago, signifying a 18.5 percent increase for the sequel.

Outside the top five, the only new wide release this weekend, Sony's "The Possession of Hannah Grace," hit tracker projections with a $6.5 million opening from 2,065 screens. While the film was panned with a C- on CinemaScore and a 20 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, Sony reached their launch goal on this thrifty, $12 million horror title.

As for the rest of the charts, Illumination/Universal's "The Grinch" continues to have a strong hold with family audiences despite the presence of "Ralph Breaks the Internet." In its fourth weekend, the film has hit $200 million domestic with a total of $17.7 million, pushing its cume to $203 million.

In third is MGM's "Creed II," sitting just behind "Grinch" with a $16.8 million second weekend. Like "Ralph," the "Rocky" spinoff is showing an improvement over the first "Creed" with an $81 million total and a 25.5 percent improvement over the $64.5 million two-weekend total of its predecessor.

#3 Kennedy Center Honors program features tributes to Bush

WASHINGTON (AP) — Last year's Kennedy Center Honors ceremony was almost overshadowed by controversy surrounding the sitting president. This year's event took place in the shadow of the death of a former commander-in-chief.

Sunday night's ceremony honoring lifetime artistic achievement featured multiple tributes to former President George H.W. Bush, who died Friday night at age 94.

The night kicked off with an extended standing ovation in Bush's memory at the request of hostess Gloria Estefan.

"I think it's appropriate to recognize the passing of a wonderful man who dedicated his life to service and who graciously attended this event many times during his administration, laughing, applauding, singing along and even shedding a tear from right up there in the presidential box," said Estefan, who recalled being invited to the White House and how Bush "literally spent 45 minutes patiently talking to my eight-year-old son" about how the government worked.

Within days of that White House visit, Estefan's tour bus was in a serious accident that left her nearly paralyzed and President Bush called her in the hospital, she said.

#4 Alec Baldwin Admits He ‘Flipped Out Over That Parking Space’ During Return to SNL After Arrest

In addition to poking fun at President Donald Trump’s ongoing legal troubles during his return to Saturday Night Live, Alec Baldwin also made a joke about his own.

Marking his first appearance on the comedy program since he was arrested in November for allegedly punching a man over a parking space, the 60-year-old actor returned to lambast the president, who has been in Argentina as he attends the G20 summit.

In the show’s cold open, Baldwin’s Trump admits that he’s “having trouble sleeping” while standing on a balcony with his wife Melania (Cecily Strong).

“I keep having a nightmare where I’m walking through a forest of blood,” he remarked.

“No, no, that was just my Christmas decorations,” she replied, humorously referencing the red Christmas trees that have been placed inside the White House, which have been the subject of countless memes and jokes online.
