In a landmark strike against people who share revenge porn, Tumblr has released the names of 281 users who reblogged nonconsensual, underage pornography last year.

As the New York Post reports, Tumblr complied with a court order Monday, July 10, and released the identities of 281 users who shared a video of the victim — a then-17-year-old woman — having sex with her boyfriend. The video surfaced in December 2016, was allegedly shared and circulated 1,200 times without the victim’s consent, and is being referred to as revenge porn. The victim is now 27, and she discovered that the video existed when strangers started reaching out to her on Facebook to ask horribly inappropriate, lewd things like, “Did you like the way his c*ck felt? Sure looks like you did,” according to the Post.

Online privacy advocates say Tumblr’s decision to release the names of nearly 300 users constitutes a violation of First Amendment protections, but by releasing the names and email addresses of the users, the revenge porn victim is now able to take legal action against them. A spokesperson for Tumblr clarified the decision to release the names and said they went forward because sharing nonconsensual, underage porn “suggest[s] a disregard and violation of Tumblr’s community guidelines.”
